Flash finally arriving on your mobile smartphone in 2010!

Adobe announced at the GSMA Mobile that indeed Flash 10 will be available for smartphones sometime in 2010. Flash is definitely something I wanted for my smartphone (iPhone) but knew that according to mobile developers that since it is an active X application, there are many security exploits that can be passed via Flash. Probably a bigger concern that Flash is a system hog and simply does not make sense to place it in a mobile device.

Flash will be avaible for smartphones running Windows Mobile, Palm, Android, Nokia Symbian and the S60. What about the iPhone you say? The iPhone will not have Flash enabled, as many say that the iPhone CPU is simply not fast enough to handle Flash…yet.

“We would love to see it on the iPhone, too,” said Anup Murarka, director of Technology Strategy and Partner Development for Adobe. “But it’s Apple’s decision on when and how they support any new technology. So we will continue to work on it.”

Some people have questioned the importance of Flash running on smartphones, many don’t realize that many applications are powered by Flash like video podcasts like Diggnation, Systm, and DL.TV
