How To Build A Flash Website

So you want to make a Flash website, well we will give you some tips on how to start to build one. The first thing I have to tell you is that you must have patience when building a flash website for the first time. It is definately much easier to build a html website than it is a Flash website.

First Thing Is First

You will need Flash Software, you cannot build a Flash website using programs like Dreamweaver or any other html based programs. If you dont want to buy a copy (since it is pretty pricey) of Flash right away, you can download a 30-day fully functioning demo here.

You can scroll down to quickly view the How To Build A Flash Website Youtube video, it covers the basics on building a flash website without getting into the super technical issues of Flash. In the video you will learn :

- The Difference between the stage and timeline
- Using The Rectangle and Text Tool
- How to create a backdrop
- Create buttons that direct to different sections
- Accessing the properties and action panels
- Stop Actions
- Goto Actions
- Testing Your Flash Website

Building A Flash Website

To upload your newly built flash website you will need to upload your site using FTP software.

The hard part of flash web sites is database connectivity. I find it hard to implement that in my works. There is always a thing that I didn’t consider, and that makes me quite angry sometimes :).

This is the simple part. The hard part comes when we have to implement a connection with a database of some sort and ask it to retrieve some sort of information. Grete tutorial, keep them coming, and please consider making a tutorial about dynamic content. Thanks.

I must admit it is a simple tutorial and that it is easy to follow. I am new to flash, but the thing is this tutorial seems to be to simplistic. Like the others said, we need a little extra. Keep them coming ;)

This tutorial is nice. I wonder how hard it is to actually start creating more complex applications. I know that the dynamic content comes from the server, any thoughts on how to connect to a PHP script?

Hey that’s a nice video! It’s well made. I am a video tutorial creator myself and I must say this is quite a good tutorial. However, as the others said, you should have considered adding the content from a PHP script for example.

  26. Bob Quin Says:

This tutorial look really nice and it’s easy to follow. I will try it and see what I can come up with. I am a newbie so this is hard enough for me, no need for extra PHP stuff :P
