So you want to make a Flash website, well we will give you some tips on how to start to build one. The first thing I have to tell you is that you must have patience when building a flash website for the first time. It is definately much easier to build a html website than it is a Flash website.
First Thing Is First
You will need Flash Software, you cannot build a Flash website using programs like Dreamweaver or any other html based programs. If you dont want to buy a copy (since it is pretty pricey) of Flash right away, you can download a 30-day fully functioning demo here.
You can scroll down to quickly view the How To Build A Flash Website Youtube video, it covers the basics on building a flash website without getting into the super technical issues of Flash. In the video you will learn :
- The Difference between the stage and timeline
- Using The Rectangle and Text Tool
- How to create a backdrop
- Create buttons that direct to different sections
- Accessing the properties and action panels
- Stop Actions
- Goto Actions
- Testing Your Flash Website
Building A Flash Website
To upload your newly built flash website you will need to upload your site using FTP software.

The hard part of flash web sites is database connectivity. I find it hard to implement that in my works. There is always a thing that I didn’t consider, and that makes me quite angry sometimes

Nice tutorial. I am sure that my friend will find it useful. He wants to learn flash and this is just the thing for him to get started.

Nice and simple tutorial. I wonder how was I when I started learning. I think I started with some tutorial similar to this one. Anyway, the better the beginner tutorials the better the future web designer/developer

Thanks, we tried to make is as simple as possible. Didn’t want to focus too much on the technical aspects, glad you enjoyed it.

I think I’ve seen this one before but I don’t remember when… Not long ago that I am sure of. It’s pretty simple but easy to follow, so yeah.. great job with it. Keep up the good work.

March 28th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
I’ve just began design with Flash. That was a simple and easy to understand tutorial. Keep more coming
March 28th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
This is the simple part. The hard part comes when we have to implement a connection with a database of some sort and ask it to retrieve some sort of information. Grete tutorial, keep them coming, and please consider making a tutorial about dynamic content. Thanks.
March 28th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
Right Simon. A tutorial about Dynamic content will be great.
March 28th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
Easy to understand tutorial for beginners like me.
March 28th, 2008 at 1:54 pm
I already do know most of that stuff anyway but it was a nice video
March 28th, 2008 at 2:15 pm

Access flash videos is blocked at my workplace. Is there any text version of the video somewhere on here?
March 28th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
Thanks
March 28th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
I must admit it is a simple tutorial and that it is easy to follow. I am new to flash, but the thing is this tutorial seems to be to simplistic. Like the others said, we need a little extra. Keep them coming
March 28th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
This tutorial is nice. I wonder how hard it is to actually start creating more complex applications. I know that the dynamic content comes from the server, any thoughts on how to connect to a PHP script?
March 28th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
I think that the whole actions layer is a basic thing and the main lesson about how flash navigation works. Nice tutorial keep up the good work.
March 28th, 2008 at 5:46 pm
I am currently working on a project that involves something similar to a website. This tutorial answered my questions about this matter. Thanks for this. I can now finish my presentation in time.
Keep up the good work.

Hey that’s a nice video! It’s well made. I am a video tutorial creator myself and I must say this is quite a good tutorial. However, as the others said, you should have considered adding the content from a PHP script for example.
March 28th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
This tutorial look really nice and it’s easy to follow. I will try it and see what I can come up with. I am a newbie so this is hard enough for me, no need for extra PHP stuff

Great tutorial, i find flash/actionscript fascinating, very hard too, there are many issues when you start to create a flash website, with only flash tech, obviously with the html tags yes.
I usually build flash projects, i create flash clocks every day and i have a website, which i hope i can show up the url which is at http://freeflashclocks.eu

That is perfect! Just what I was looking for, all the others were much too detailed. This is the kind of tutorial that is needed for people who are new to flash, it doesn’t baffle you with information you don’t need to know yet. A great foundation stone.

Dreamline
I’ve used your tutorials before (sending data from flash) and now this! My first flash site project was with a template and OHGOD was that painful. I am going to undergo a flash site from scratch now and this tutorial is wonderful. It’s simple and gives you the basic concept that we can work on/add to. Honestly, I can not thank you enough for this amazing tutorial. I look forward to becoming a better developer and releasing free tutorials myself.
Thank you thank you thank you!
